Low-Temperature Water Chiller Unit

Unit Overview

A low-temperature water chiller unit designed for low-temperature conditions, composed of two or more independent refrigeration cycles, with a refrigeration temperature typically ranging from -5°C to -50°C. Due to the diversity of products, some production processes and equipment cannot meet the actual working condition requirements with normal-temperature water cooling. Only low-temperature circulating water can fulfill the practical production process requirements, necessitating the use of low-temperature water chiller units.

Refrigeration Principle

The compressor operates, converting low-temperature, low-pressure gaseous refrigerant into high-temperature, high-pressure gaseous refrigerant, which enters the condenser. Part of the heat from the refrigerant in the condenser is expelled by external cooling water or cooling fans. The refrigerant releases heat and liquefies into a high-temperature, high-pressure liquid, which then flows through a dryer filter for drying and filtration. It then passes through an expansion valve for throttling (a rapid cooling process) and pressure reduction, liquefying into a low-temperature, low-pressure liquid that enters the evaporator for heat exchange. The low-temperature, low-pressure liquid refrigerant absorbs heat from the surrounding medium (water, oil) in the evaporator. During the heat absorption process, the refrigerant temperature remains constant while its volume changes. After absorbing heat, the low-pressure liquid refrigerant vaporizes into a low-temperature, low-pressure gaseous refrigerant and enters the compressor. It is compressed into a high-temperature, high-pressure gas and enters the condenser, thus completing the entire refrigeration cycle.

Two-Stage Refrigeration Cycle System

The two-stage refrigeration cycle is developed based on the single-stage refrigeration cycle, with the compression process divided into two stages. The refrigerant vapor from the evaporator enters the low-pressure stage cylinder and is compressed to an intermediate pressure. After intermediate cooling, it enters the high-pressure stage cylinder and is compressed to the condensation pressure before entering the condenser. Generally, when the evaporation temperature is between -25°C and -50°C, a two-stage compressor should be used for refrigeration. The refrigeration system consists of an evaporator, two-stage compressor, oil separator, condenser, intermediate cooler, ammonia receiver, ammonia liquid separator, throttle valve, and other auxiliary equipment, all connected by pipes to form a closed system. The intermediate cooler uses a small amount of liquid refrigerant to vaporize and absorb heat at intermediate pressure, cooling the superheated vapor discharged from the low-pressure stage, reducing the suction temperature of the high-pressure stage, and also cooling the high-pressure liquid refrigerant.

Main Components of the Unit:

Compressor: The core component of the entire refrigeration system and the power source for the refrigerant.

Evaporator: A heat exchange component that relies on the evaporation of liquid refrigerant to absorb heat from the cooled medium.

Condenser: Plays a role in the refrigeration process by dissipating the heat output by the compressor and allowing the refrigerant to condense.

Thermal Expansion Valve: Commonly known as a throttle valve in the refrigeration system.

Liquid Receiver: Installed at the evaporator and compressor suction pipe to prevent liquid refrigerant from entering the compressor and causing liquid hammer, serving as a protective component.

Refrigerant: The refrigeration system uses R22, R404a, R407c, R134a, and R410a as refrigerants.

7. The unit has eight protection functions: power phase sequence protection, leakage protection, compressor overload protection, coil overheating protection, high and low pressure protection, water shortage protection, chilled water flow protection, and anti-freeze protection.

8. The condenser of the industrial water chiller unit is a sleeve type with internal threaded copper tubes, designed reasonably for excellent heat exchange performance. The air-cooled unit's cooling fins are composed of finned rows of copper tubes, manufactured using secondary flanging fin mechanical expansion tube technology and advanced heat exchanger production lines to ensure product energy efficiency.

7. Electrostatic spray-coated shell with European design, aesthetically pleasing and elegant. The exterior panels are designed for quick disassembly and assembly, facilitating use and maintenance.

Unit Performance

The low-temperature water chiller unit uses multiple compressors in parallel, each with its own chilled water circuit. All compressors are controlled by a unified microcomputer control system, starting and stopping sequentially. Additionally, Ninewells brand units are entirely made with imported original parts, resulting in extremely low single-unit failure rates. Combined, these factors ensure stable performance and continuous operation over long-term use.
